Top 6 Web Design Trends for 2015 Part 1

Web Design

With website design and development some trends pass quite quickly while others seem to be natural progressions – keeping up with technology, how audiences connect, and the type of visual aids and content they want to engage with.

Website Design Centres’ first 3 of the top 6 trends for 2015:

1. Bigger Images
In years gone by, images have needed to still smaller due to limitations with bandwidth. With these limitations becoming less and less of an issues images are set to get bigger and better. In 2015, images are set to take over and so too will the techniques of:
• Extracting dominant colours for backgrounds
• Responsive resizing
• The optimisation of images for minimal server load
With blur and colour filter overlays (allowing text to float over the image without compromising the usability), images are also likely to become extremely popular as backgrounds.

2. Typography
2015 will see web design finally throw off the old-fashioned ideals that has kept text too small and too close together for far too long. Adjusting the type size, column width and line height will allow for larger text which is easier to read. And there will be more creativity with typography choices – presenting the written word in a much more interesting, and often relevant, way.

3. Flat Design
Thanks to Apple’s new look direction, Microsoft’s UI language and Google’s material design guidelines, flat design is here, in a big way. Flat design is essentially a minimalist approach so websites in 2015 will tend towards – fast, content targeted, clutter-free sites. This trend will lead to sites that are aesthetically attractive as well as practical – they allow visitors to engage with content without distraction.
