Are these 5 things harming your brand?

Website Branding

You’ve worked hard to establish your brand and your organisation’s reputation but there may be things you are doing, or not doing, that are undoing all your good deeds. We have put together the top 5 things that may be harming your brand and affecting your sales.

1. Not listening & Bad Social Reputation
In today’s market, consumers expect to be listened to, to have their questions and concerned dealt with in a timely manner. Top brands are those that are understanding, agile, flexible and speedy. Today’s expectation is that marketing communications are updated in real time, particularly on social media platforms. Not responding implies that you are too busy or not concerned – both of which damage the trust in your business and consumers are only dealing with businesses they trust.

2. Poor Website Design
What is poor website design? If you website has any of the following issues then you may have a website that is harming your brand and limiting your potential growth:

• Busy, complex layout
• Too much text or text that is not considered relevant
• Lack of navigational aids that help the reader move through your site
• Small print or colours of text/background that make the site difficult to read

3. Inconsistency in Image
Your brand needs to present as a united force, if you have inconsistency in your image then consumers will just get confused and move on. As an example – if your logo is different on your website and social media profiles – who are you really?

4. Low Quality Content
Google is rolling out updates designed to drop brands that have lower quality content. Is your content up to par? Low quality video content is anything that has bad lighting, poor technical production like poor resolution and buffering, and poor sound quality. Low quality text content is anything that is duplicate copy, keyword stuffed and, most importantly, irrelevant.

5. Limited Planning
Blog posts, articles, social media posts can all be scheduled ahead of time – in fact, that’s often the most cost-effective way but if you do this and don’t monitor and plan ahead then your could be harming your brand. Even if you schedule you still need to make sure that your posts are appropriate and relevant before they go live. You must have a plan in place to monitor your posts, current affairs and mitigate problems before they occur.
