3 Strategies for Content Marketing Success – Part 2

Last time we discussed the first of the strategies for content marketing success, now we will work through the second strategy to help you succeed with your content marketing.

Value and relevancy

Create content which is both relevant and valuable; this offers a powerful avenue through which to build trust with prospects.

According to Forrester, content marketing should be a strategy through which “brands create relationships with customers by producing, curating, and sharing content that addresses specific customer needs and delivers visible value.”

How can you achieve it?

One tactic is to build a content marketing strategy around a significant asset. This significant asset should contain primary or secondary research such as a white paper or eBook. It should be valuable and relevant to potential customers. Where do you start? Start simple by answering the biggest question your prospects ask.

If you don’t understand what content you should create and why you should create it then it will be ineffective content. Without a clear purpose and strategy, you will probably find yourself among the 51% of businesses that deem their content marketing efforts to be only somewhat effective.

With a clear content marketing strategy in place, you can use metrics to determine the most effective content and approach. Then, establish a cycle of strategy, production, distribution, and analytics. The key to this cycle is the analytics, which continuously provides consistent, important input on how to improve your strategy.

And don’t be afraid to experiment; it plays a huge role in uncovering effective approaches for building trust, relevancy and reaching qualified prospects. Perhaps keep 20% of your content marketing activity for experimental approaches, those not driven by your structured, formal, fully-documented strategy.
