Why you still need to invest in SEO

Invest in SEO

Perhaps you’ve heard some of the hype surrounding the statement that ‘SEO is dead’. In actual fact, nothing is further from the truth – it’s just changed, that’s all. The fact is that many companies, large and small, have renewed their investment in SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and here’s why:

SEO still works – despite changes to SEO algorithms the techniques employed to improve your SEO still work. The techniques we have all been applying remain sound.

SEO isn’t going to stop working soon – From the way in which search engines are developing, search engine optimisation is unlikely to stop being effective in any time soon. Traditional text-based content and even video and audio searches all still rely on keywords. And while that link between keywords and searches remains then so too does the success of SEO techniques.

SEO is cost-effective – Now the term ‘invest’ might have scared you at first but the reality is that SEO is a cost-effective form of marketing, particularly when compared to other channels, such as direct marketing, PPC advertising or even social media marketing. Yes, PPC might drive more measurable revenue, Social Media may be great for your branding, it’s still SEO that remains the strong foundation for your online presence.

SEO is gaining market share – Soon enough almost everyone will be searching for services and products online – the percentage of people already checking online reviews before buying is 80-90% – and without organic SEO in place people will struggle to find you.

SEO is mobile and local – We can all comprehend that online traffic going to mobile devices in increasing rapidly and that’s a trend unlikely to change. This tread opens up a range of effective SEO techniques such as local search optimisation. And if your mobile customers can’t find you they will find your competition.

Which leads to our last point nicely…

SEO is being done by your competitors – SEO is not a ‘set and forget’ process, it’s an ongoing one. If you give up utilising SEO techniques you’re standing still or going backwards and your competitor who is staying on top of their SEO is making up ground or even surpassing you.
