Top 4 reasons you still need a Facebook page

Facebook

It’s not a big secret that reaching fans on our Facebook business pages is touch and likely to get tougher, thanks to the Facebook algorithm. But there are four fantastic reasons while you still need to have a Facebook page for your business.

  1. Facebook makes sense for SEO

In a recent article for Entrepreneur, writer Larry Alton identified that a strong social media presence does correlate with SEO rankings but admitted that no one really knows how it happens. Google is pretty secretive about its decisions and there are so many factors affecting search rankings that it’s hard to pinpoint the impact of social.

For this reason, brands pour significant resources into social media, but they usually see the investment as a means for ads and consumer engagement rather than SEO. Recently thought experts have figured out some loose connections between the two. If your website isn’t showing up in Google results it could be because the search engine doesn’t know that your brand exists. With no social media profiles, particularly Facebook, your brand doesn’t appear to be legitimate. More and more we are seeing Google+ pages, Facebook pages, LinkedIn profiles and Twitter feeds coming up in search results before the website itself.

  1. You can’t advertise without a page

Facebook advertising, while sometimes tricky, is the single most effective (and one of the most cost effective) way to reach new potential clients. Thanks to specific targeting and the ability to promote with any type of budget, Facebook adverts are a no brainer for almost any business, of any size.

  1. Your personal profile is not technically meant for business

It’s actually against the Facebook Terms to use your personal account to represent something other than yourself, such as your business or a not for profit that you run. If you’re using your account for business purposes there’s a real possibility that you can permanently lose access to your account. This can cause untold damage if you’ve spent time building it up and connecting with potential clients and customers.

  1. Potential clients WILL look for your page

You need to think of your Facebook business page almost like a business card. It’s not a huge part of your marketing strategy or something that brings in tonnes of new business on by itself, but because we know it’s second nature now to check out a business’ Facebook page, you really want to make sure it stays active and accurately represents your brand and business.
