Are you not achieving the mobile conversion rates you want? Now it’s easy to answer that no one is really achieving the mobile conversions that they want (and that’s true – most are awful) but there are a few simple steps that you can take in order to quickly improve your mobile conversions. If your website developer implements these steps today, you could potentially see improvements tomorrow.
Step 1 – Mobile friendly
If your website isn’t mobile friendly – why not? You can’t expect to achieve great mobile conversions if your viewers need to pinch-to-zoom just to hope to read the text on your page. We’re not going to delve into the responsive versus mobile-specific debate in this blog but let’s leave it at – your site must be mobile friendly.
Step 2 – Labels are above
The easiest way to increase mobile conversions is to make things as easy as possible for your viewers. And the first, most basic way to do this is to ensure that the labels for your form fields are above. If you’ve ever gone to complete a form on a mobile device, you click on the field, the screen zooms in and what? – You can no longer see the field name. Ensuring that the labels can still be seen will remind the viewer of what information they need to fill out.
Step 3 – Easy input
Still on the topic of making things easy; ensure it is easy to input phone numbers and credit card numbers. When your site brings up a QWERTY keyboard for people to input numbers it can cause angst for those with larger fingers. And it’s an easy fix with HTML5 and all mobile devices using it. Talk to your developer about this issue – but essentially you should be able to have a large, iPhone dialling keypad appear on mobile devices to allow for the easy input of these important numbers.
Step 4 – Easy email
Again talk to your website developer but what you need to do is use a HTML5 easy keyboard option for email form fields. This option will provide the viewer with a keyboards that includes the ‘dot’ and the @ symbol to make providing their email address a no brainer.
By making it easier for viewers to provide their information they are more likely to convert via mobile rather than click off. Whether a conversion is a purchase, a download or signing up for a newsletter, making it easy to input information and read the information in the first place will automatically improve your mobile conversion rates.
