Putting it simply – a squeeze page is a page designed to ‘squeeze’ a reader’s email address from them by offering them something of value in return. The aim being to entice readers to opt-in to an email or subscriber list in order to gain more information about a service or product featured on the main squeeze page.
Now, we’re not necessarily talking about a pop-up here since a successful squeeze page doesn’t just ask for the email address – it will provide a great reason for them to hand over their email address. The offer on the squeeze page should be irresistible enough to justify you asking for the reader’s email address.
And, your squeeze page offer must be exclusive – if they can get it somewhere else you will end up with a lot of annoyed people and your credibility may never recover.
Why are they important?
Because they allow you to get the reader’s email address and eventually sell them something later on. Getting that sometimes elusive email address allows you the chance to push them that bit further down your sale funnel towards conversion, while also building a relationship with them.
What can you offer?
In terms of digital assets, you can offer things like:
- A podcast
- Ecourse
- Infographic
- Slide deck
- Whitepaper
- Ebook
- Case Study
- Newsletter
- Webinar/Video
- Free report
It obviously need to be the digital asset that is going to provide the most value to your ideal target audience. If they are beginners – perhaps an ebook or email course. If they are super busy – perhaps a podcast or an infographic.
There’s no right or wrong offer to use – just don’t lose sight of your audience and what would be the right encouragement they need to hand over their email address to you.
