3 Strategies for Content Marketing Success – Part 1

Last time we discussed the 3 common content marketing frustrations that small businesses face but, now we will work through the 3 strategies to help you succeed with your content marketing.

Trust is key

The traditional old-fashioned hard sell – think repetitive adverts and ear-worm jingles- will only drive today’s consumers away (in droves). You need to use your digital content to create trust in the product or service you offer. People also need to trust that the people behind the business understand their challenges and needs. And this trust all stems from authenticity within the content you create.

“Content builds relationships. Relationships are built on trust. Trust drives revenue” – Andrew Davis

Expertise and understanding of your customers’ needs keeps your business successful in a rapidly changing and ultra-competitive marketplace. Customers will buy ‘value’ over features. 71% of consumers surveyed said they trust brands that provide useful information without trying to sell them something.

How to build trust with your content marketing strategy:

Be consistent – drive top-of-funnel content such as blog posts to landing pages that have related content. Landing pages related to your content improves your lead generation. Businesses that add around 10-15 more landing pages to their content offering often see a 55% increase in leads.

Create a connection – creating an emotional connection will build trust and it will also increase social sharing – which can lead to more visitors, lead and customers. “Campaigns with purely emotional content performed about twice as well (31% versus 16%) as those with only rational content.” – Buffer

Use customer recommendations – build the use of existing customer recommendations into your content marketing strategy. Aim for building relationships at every stage of your funnel and you’re nurturing your prospects from visitor to lead and lead to customers.
